What is In-mold label (IML)

In-mold label (IML)

What is IML?

IML – in-mold labeling (IML) is a pre-decorating technique used for blow molded bottles as well as injection molded and thermoformed containers or other plastic objects.

In-mold labeling (IML) is very different from other labeling techniques because in-mold labels (IML) are ejected into the mold before the molds are closed; they are embedded into the wall of the container during the molding process.

What is In-mold label (IML) film?

IML – in-mold labeling (IML) film is a layer of paper or plastic that is used the in-mold labeling process. The in-mold labeling IML film is placed inside the mold as the container itself is being formed.

Advantages of in-mold labels (IML)

l  The material of the  In-Mold labels (IML) and the container are similar. Recycling is easier, reducing the cost and improving the value of products.

l  In-Mold labels (IML) improves the containers abrasion resistance, high temperature resistance.

l  In-Mold labels (IML) can improve the barrier, water-proof, moisture-proof of containers.

l  The conventional decorating labels for containers such as pressure-sensitive labels, shrinkage labels and self-adhesive label all have a next process. The in-mold labels (IML) process eliminates the labeling step and all associated equipment and labor costs.
